Evidence-Based Services to Improve Mental Health and Wellbeing
About Me
As a clinical psychologist, I am dedicated to helping patients live according to their values. While I am a generalist, I have particular expertise in anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), trauma, men’s issues, and LGBTQ mental health. I use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help patients learn to change negative thinking patterns and unhelpful behaviors. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and centered on measurable progress. I am licensed in New York, California, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and am a certified telehealth provider in Florida.
I am currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU Langone, where I provide individual, group, and couples therapy. I am particularly skilled in providing exposure therapy (including exposure and response prevention and prolonged exposure), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), skills training in affective and interpersonal regulation (STAIR), behavioral activation, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills, and CBT for ADHD, perfectionism, and body image concerns. I am also actively involved in teaching and training graduate students, interns, postdoctoral fellows, and medical residents.
In terms of my training and experience, I completed my PhD in clinical psychology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and internship at the Boston Consortium in Clinical Psychology, where my major rotation was in the Behavioral Science Division within the National Center for PTSD at the VA Boston Healthcare System. While on internship, I maintained academic appointments as a clinical fellow in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and a teaching fellow in psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine. I also completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at the National Center for PTSD Dissemination and Training Division, part of the Stanford University School of Medicine and the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
I have also been involved in a variety of research endeavors that align with my clinical interests. My research activities are driven by a desire to improve mental health services for underserved populations, particularly for sexual and gender minorities. My research has primarily focused on evidence-based, patient-centered treatment for PTSD and related conditions, particularly anxiety disorders, and using various technologies such as videoconferencing, mobile apps, and web-based interventions to increase access to care and maximize the efficiency of interventions.
I am committed to supporting my patients and helping them make meaningful changes in their lives.
